Against the stigma of an elitist sport
Urban Tennis was shot together with Muriel at the courts in Amsterdam. Under the overpass, under the beating sun, people come together to train, to laugh, to compete. Fully embracing tennis in it's purest form.
Leaning into the concept of tennis as a sport instead of a lifestyle, I went for a bold and powerful approach. Hard light, bold colors and an analog filmic look. Nevertheless, the images are stylized, polished and focused, exactly as an athlete should be.
The concept is shot for a magazine approach, where she plays against and for herself. In 2 outfits on opposite sides, the images work both per outfit and set opposite each other.
